SYNTRICITY RELEASES dataConductorEP 5.0 SOFTWARE FOR SEMICONDUCTOR ENTERPRISE YIELD MANAGEMENT

Integrates data collection, warehousing, analysis and optimization to reduce time to market and improve profitability

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA, September 16, 2005 – Syntricity Inc. introduces dataConductorEP™ 5.0, an interactive enterprise yield management system (EYM) software suite that allows semiconductor manufacturers to collect data from diverse manufacturing systems and combine them into a single warehouse to manage yields during characterization, yield ramp and volume production. With a Web-native interface, dataConductorEP makes yield information available throughout the organization, from engineer to manager to executive. dataConductorEP 5.0 minimizes time to achieve production yields, accelerates isolation of root cause problems, reduces the number of mask sets required and simplifies management of terabytes of yield data. As a result, dataConductorEP 5.0 helps semiconductor companies accelerate their time to market, enhance production yields and improve corporate profitability.
The dataConductorEP 5.0 EYM software suite includes Advanced Monitoring for Production (AMP™). Using AMP, executives can access summary report cards to monitor production yields of all products and drill down into specific wafer acceptance test (WAT), wafer sort and final test information. At the same time, AMP enables engineers to identify problem areas in production-released product and easily navigate to device characterization analysis tools for detailed root cause analysis.

Wafer fab, die sort, assembly and final test data are continuously collected in the dataConductorEP warehouse and made available to engineers, managers and executives through interactive analysis flows. Reports are continuously updated, providing the most accurate, up-to-date view of how devices are yielding. dataConductorEP 5.0 is a bridge for engineering, management, operations and IT, facilitating cross-operational functionality and serving as a proactive yield management tool across the entire product life cycle.

“Customers using dataConductorEP have reduced their costs of characterization yield analysis by 75 percent and time to yield by 33 percent, thus enabling them to realize significant production yield improvements. A one percent increase in yield can impact a semiconductor manufacturer’s bottom line by millions of dollars,” said Marc Friedmann, president and CEO of Syntricity. “dataConductorEP 5.0 is the first package to provide operations and engineering vice presidents with a daily engineering data dashboard, enhancing their ability to run their business, while simultaneously enabling engineers to use the data to pinpoint specific technical yield limiters.”

“As semiconductor manufacturing moves into the sub-100-nanometer (nm) range, managing the complex interactions among hundreds of different tools with thousands of different parameters requires comprehensive software systems developed specifically for semiconductor manufacturing,” said Bob Johnson, vice president at technology research firm Gartner Dataquest.

“Using dataConductorEP, we have seen a tremendous difference in the ease and speed with which we can access data, drill down for answers to our questions, and analyze the data. This gives us the ability to implement a company-wide response in dealing with product yield issues,” said Kevin Boyle, director of operations for Microsemi, a global supplier of high performance analog, mixed-signal and high reliability semiconductor products. “Yield information is more accurate, immediately available, and visible throughout our organization.”
The dataConductorEP platform is modular, scalable and flexible. Syntricity offers flexible licensing options for the software, including term and subscription licenses, with prices starting around $50,000.
